THE not-for-profit Army and Air Force Canteen Service (AAFCANS) contributed $1,025,005.90 to Air Force and Army welfare in the 2024/20125 financial year through its automated retail vending program. The top three recipients were Lavarack Barracks Townsville with an impressive $180,928.44,  Robertson Barracks NT with $126,175.86, and Lone Pine Barracks Singleton with $84,386.84 in disbursement returns generated from the machines. In total, 31 Defence welfare funds benefited from the profits generated by over 290 AAFCANS branded vending machines, spread across 39 ADF bases.

AAFCANS has procured a range of contemporary tap-and-go vending machines, designed to provide convenient heat-and-serve meal options for ADF members. Following successful trials at selected bases, these machines have since been introduced to support resident personnel with access to out-of-hours meals. Building on this success, AAFCANS has also trialed and evaluated machines offering protein snacks, healthy treats, health and beauty products, convenience items, and fresh-bean barista-style coffee to further enhance the customer experience.

AAFCANS’ mission is to contribute to Defence capability by enhancing personnel morale and wellbeing. For more information contact AAFCANS HQ on 07 3332 6356, or visit AAFCANS website aafcans.gov.au/giving-back
