Ms Leonie Taylor FCA FAICD - Chair

Non Executive Director

Ministerial Appointment, 1st October 2015.

Leonie has served on various Boards since 1993. She retired as a Partner from the Chartered Accountants group, Bentleys (Qld) as at 30 June 2018. Leonie undertakes the role of the independent finance professional on the Audit and risk committees of two industry superannuation funds and a private capital group. Leonie was a director and subsequently the Chair of North Qld Bulk Ports from 1993 to 2012. Leonie is a Chartered Accountant and brings with her extensive professional experience in corporate strategic planning, business advising and governance.

Mr Tim Manic  - Acting CEO

Board Appointed, 9th September 2020

Tim has extensive experience in fast-moving consumer goods, wholesale and retail with a decade in senior national and state team leadership roles. Tim has developed and managed large teams building strategies to empower his people, create business growth and build strong supply chain relationships. His previous leadership roles in Metcash and IGA have honed his skills in merchandising, procurement, fresh produce and competitive retail marketing. Tim has been at the helm as National Operations Manager role with AAFCANS for the past 2 years. His influence has helped to evolve AAFCANS store operations, build capable teams and improve the delivery of customer service and in-store experience. Tim works closely with ADF leadership and Defence base leadership (by base) to improve strategic stakeholder relationships, find opportunities for AAFCANS to enhance the capability of Defence and support Defence welfare.

BRIG Todd Ashurst CSC

Chief of Army Appointment, 3rd August 2018.

Todd, as a military representative, advises AAFCANS and represents the interests of the Army. Todd is currently appointed as Director General Logistics - Army. In this position he is responsible to the Chief of Army for strategic logistic, governance and technical regulatory management in support of Army’s mission and tasks. Todd also has responsibility for developing and implementing Army’s strategic policies related to infrastructure, safety, security, and enterprise risk management. Todd has extensive experience in command, training and operational appointments.

Air Commodore Martin Smith, Director General Logistics - Air Force.

Air Commodore Martin Smith GAICD - Non Executive Director

Chief of Air Force Appointment, 20th February 2020

Martin is an Air Force Reserve Officer with extensive experience in command, strategy development, risk management and operations. As a military representative, he advises AAFCANS and represents the interests of the Air Force. His previous appointments have included Director-General Logistics - Air Force and Commander of the Combat Support Group. He was responsible to the Chief of Air Force for the strategic leadership of RAAF logistics, maintenance and infrastructure capabilities, as well as commanding Air Force's permanent and expeditionary airbase capabilities. Martin has held appointments on senior Defence boards and committees such as; Chief of Air Force Advisory Committee and the Defence Logistics Committee.

Ms Linda Heron - Non Executive Director

Ministerial Appointment, 1st May 2018

Linda has extensive experience across the private and public sectors where she has held several strategic roles that span very large operational teams in the supermarket business (Coles Myer Ltd), to establishing and leading the People and Capability function in a Victorian water corporation including the legal and governance functions.

Linda holds or has held positions on numerous boards and committees, appointed due to her recognised expertise in retail, strategy, human resources, skills and training.

Mr Glenn Kirk - Non Executive Director

Ministerial Appointment, 30th November 2017

Glenn has over 35 years retailing experience, primarily with Coles Myer Ltd. Glenn held key executive roles in both operations and distribution for Coles Supermarkets and Metcash Convenience. Glenn has a strong history of developing and improving performance across a range of retail, wholesale and warehousing operations. Glenn brings complete retail oversight and expertise to the AAFCANS board.

Ms Jane Onley CA FGIA - Company Secretary

Head of Governance & Risk

Jane was appointed the Company Secretary/Commercial Manager on a part time basis in March 2006. With the appointment of a full time Commercial Manager in August 2013, her role has evolved to mainly cover the governance aspects of AAFCANS.

As a Chartered Accountant from a ‘Big 4’ audit background and a member of the Governance Institute of Australia, Jane spent the previous 20+ years working in the commercial sector gaining extensive experience in running businesses across numerous industries. Jane’s principle areas of expertise are financial management, budgeting and forecasting, management and financial reporting, corporate governance and policies, and company secretarial administration.

Jane’s main focus at AAFCANS is to ensure proper governance in accordance with the latest legislation as well as the timely presentation of financial and operational reports for the board of management and key stakeholders. She is ably assisted in this endeavour by a very professional team within AAFCANS' Support Office.
