Mr Glenn Kirk, GAICD, Chair

Glenn was appointed as Chair on 1 April 2022. Glenn has over 35 years retailing experience, primarily with Coles Myer Ltd. Glenn held key executive roles in both operations and distribution for Coles Supermarkets and Metcash Convenience. Glenn has a strong history of developing and improving performance across a range of retail, wholesale and warehousing operations. Glenn brings complete retail oversight and expertise to the AAFCANS board.

Mr Tim Manic, GAICD, Managing Director

Executive Director

Board Appointed, 1st December 2020

Tim has extensive experience in fast-moving consumer goods, wholesale and retail with a decade in senior national and state team leadership roles. Tim has developed and managed large teams building strategies to empower his people, create business growth and build strong supply chain relationships. His previous leadership roles in Metcash and IGA have honed his skills in merchandising, procurement, fresh produce and competitive retail marketing. Tim has been at the helm as National Operations Manager role with AAFCANS for the past two years. His influence has helped to drive our strategic plan around customer service and in store team development. Tim works closely with ADF leadership to improve strategic stakeholder relationships, find opportunities for AAFCANS to enhance the capability of Defence and support Defence welfare.

Brigadier Rebecca Talbot, GAICD

The Chief of the Defence Force Appointment, 16th January 2023

Rebecca, as a military representative, advises AAFCANS and represents the interests of the Australian Army. Rebecca is currently the Director General Logistics – Army;  in this position, she is responsible to the Chief of Army for strategic logistics, governance and technical regulatory management in support of Army’s mission and tasks. She also has responsibility for developing and implementing Army’s strategic policies related to infrastructure, estate management and training areas.

Rebecca has extensive experience in command, logistics, training and international representational appointments.

Air Commodore Martin Smith, Director General Logistics - Air Force.

Air Commodore Martin Smith, GAICD

The Chief of the Defence Force Appointment, 17th October 2022

Martin is an Air Force Reserve Officer with extensive experience in command, strategy development, risk management and operations. As a military representative, he advises AAFCANS and represents the interests of the Air Force. His previous appointments have included Director-General Logistics – Air Force and Commander of the Combat Support Group. He was responsible to the Chief of Air Force for the strategic leadership of RAAF logistics, maintenance and infrastructure capabilities, as well as commanding Air Force’s permanent and expeditionary airbase capabilities. Martin has held appointments on senior Defence boards and committees such as; Chief of Air Force Advisory Committee and the Defence Logistics Committee.

Ms Linda Heron, GAICD, MContempLdship

Linda has extensive experience across the private and public sectors where she has held several strategic roles that span very large operational teams in the supermarket business (Coles Myer Ltd), to establishing and leading the People and Capability function in a Victorian water corporation including the legal and governance functions.

Linda holds or has held positions on numerous boards and committees, appointed due to her recognised expertise in retail, strategy, human resources, skills and training.

Mr Peter Goldsworthy, FCPA GAICD

Non-Executive Director

Ministerial Appointment, 1st April 2022

Peter is the Global Head of Supply Chain for Metagenics Inc., a global leading company in natural integrated medicine, and functional nutrition. 

Peter has a wide breadth of experience in leading high performing teams, all over the world, in a variety of industries. Prior to Metagenics, Peter held several Executive and Senior Management positions across APAC, UK/ROI, the US with FMCG multinationals Kellogg’s and George Western Foods. 

Peter holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Graduate Diploma in Advanced Accounting, Masters of Commerce and is FCPA and GAICD certified. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of YFS Limited, a not-for-profit Human Services organisation based in Brisbane.

Ms Jane Onley CA FGIA

Company Secretary / Head of Governance & Risk

Jane was appointed as Company Secretary on a part time basis in March 2006.

A Chartered Accountant and a member of the Governance Institute of Australia, Jane worked in the accounting and commercial sectors gaining extensive experience in running businesses across numerous industries. Jane’s principle areas of expertise are financial management and reporting, risk management, corporate governance and policies, and company secretarial administration.

Jane’s main focus at AAFCANS is to ensure proper governance in accordance with the latest legislation as well as the timely presentation of financial and operational reports for the board of management and key stakeholders. She is ably assisted in this endeavour by a very professional team within AAFCANS’ Support Office.
