Kokoda Barracks / Canungra
Kokoda Barracks is located in the upper Coomera River Valley between the Darlington and Beechmont Ranges and was established in 1942 for Army jungle warfare and infantry training. It was closed from 1948 – 1954 and reactivated during the Vietnam War (60s and 70s).
The base is home to the Defence Intelligence Training Centre and the Australian Army Land Warfare Centre.
it has a substantial transient population due to the extensive ongoing training courses.
The AAFCANS outlet was recently refurbished and relocated to a new location on base. The refurbishment was in partnership with Defence, the new outlet opened Jan 2017.
Kokoda barracks was the central point for the military support provided for the recent Commonwealth Games.
