RAAF Richmond Trojan Kiosk
AAFCANS recently refurbished their amenities container, affectionately known as ‘the caravan of courage and has now been re-born as the ‘Trojan Kiosk’. The container facility was originally purchased by AAFCANS in 2013 and has been well-used portable amenities support kiosk and a much-loved coffee spot when on exercise. The kiosk recently underwent the refit and re-purpose finding its new home on the flightline at RAAF Richmond. The container was moved by C17 from RAAF Amberley to its new pad on Cole Street.
A naming competition was held on base to brand the new facility. The winning name ‘Trojan’ comes from the call-sign used for C-130 platform operated by 37 SQN Richmond and appropriately tethers the new facility to its new home.

New Mobile Amenities Fleet
AAFCANS’ plans to invest $2.6 million 2018-2023 to refresh and improve their mobile amenities capability and improve support for ADF members on base and on exercise! The first of the new custom-built mobile amenities’ vehicles will be trialled in August 2018.
Six of AAFCANS mobile food vans will gradually be replaced. The major bases such as: RAAF Amberley, RAAF Williamtown and RAAF Edinburgh will be included in the first round of replacement vehicles. A further nine new vehicles will be added to the fleet as the program rolls out, taking the count from 19 to 28 vehicles by 2023. The new vehicles will sell fresh coffee as a key part of the improved offer. More RAAF bases will see changes and improvements to mobile amenities, canteens and kiosks as the investment program progresses. In line with AAFCANS strategy ‘Where you go – we go’, plans for three 4WD all-terrain mobile amenities kiosks and trailers (MAK) will form part of the new fleet, the first of these will also be trialled in July/August 2018. When not supporting exercises, the new mobile kiosk will be positioned on base to provide convenient additional amenities. The new design allows AAFCANS to retail freshly prepared meals and snacks along with barista-made coffee. Over the next five years we plan to invest more than $8 million dollars, upgrading canteens, increasing kiosks for extra convenience and improving ICT capability. These initiatives support ADF welfare through service efficiencies for customers.
2018/19 investment for new 2WD was $127K and the new 4WD $305K.
